I started writing The Cronnex when my brother commited suicide. I had never written anything like it before, hadn't even imagined doing so. And yet, there I was, night after night, writing as fast as I could, while the story poured out of me. By the time my grief began to lift, I had written over three hundred pages. I haven't spent much time thinking about this; I certainly didn't write this for my brother and it isn't about our own relationship, or at least not in any way I can identify myself. I suppose I was seeking comfort that I couldn't find anywhere else.

Then, as suddenly as it had come, the flood abated. By then I had completed the first draft of the first volume of what appeared to be a trilogy and had written a few chapters in the second and third volumes, as well. I was drawn into the story and didn't want it to end. But...what was the point of continuing it? It was something written entirely for myself, but without the driving force of grief, I wasn't sure I had the stamina to continue. I never had any idea of what was going to happen next, and I wasn't consciously following any particular genre path. At times adventure came to the fore, at other times romance. It suddenly seemed vastly complicated.

So, what to do? My solution was to create this website. I thought that finding other readers who want to see The Cronnex continued might encourage me to keep working on it. They have. Thanks to the support from readers like you, I've completed the first three volumes and am now working the fourth. I hope you'll give it a try. And if you have any thoughts or suggestions or encouragement, be sure to get in touch.
